Travel in Style and Comfort: Small Group 7-Day Portugal Tour

A Small-Group Journey Designed for Comfort, Culture & Connection

No solo planning. No big-bus crowds. No guesswork once you land.

Just a small group, a local guide, and a week built around the real Portugal — from Lisbon’s tiled streets to the vineyards of the Douro.

Small by Design 7 Day Trip to Portugal

Most Portugal tours run 20 to 40 travelers. This one caps at 8.

That means a guide with time for your questions — not a headcount to manage. Real conversations. Real pace. Never a crowd.

From Landing to Local, in One Afternoon

Your driver is waiting at arrivals. Hotel, transfers, and your first day — already planned before you touch down.

No metro with luggage. No taxi negotiation in a language you don’t speak. Just show up.

A Pace Built to Explore, Not to Rush

Expect real walking — a few kilometers a day, through cobbled streets and yes, some hills, since Lisbon and Porto are famously built on them. This isn’t a bus-window tour.

But it’s not a race either. The pace is unhurried: time to stop, take a photo, have a coffee, and actually be in the place — not just pass through it.

A Guide Who Speaks the Language and Knows the Story

No Portuguese required. Your guide handles every conversation, explains the traditions and monuments, and helps you order the best meal and wine at every restaurant.

And when you’re standing at Jerónimos Monastery or the ruins in Braga, you get the history — not a plaque to Google Translate.

Portugal Itinerary

Seven days, Lisbon to Porto, balancing the iconic with the unexpected:

Lisbon — A warm pastel de nata from the original 200-year-old Pastéis de Belém bakery. The tiled streets and trams of one of Europe’s most photogenic capitals.

Sintra — Pena Palace, the fairy-tale hilltop estate. Entrance included, no ticket line to manage.

Douro Valley — A full day among terraced vineyards in a UNESCO World Heritage site. Port wine tasting in a historic cellar, then an hour on the river.

Porto — The medieval streets of one of Europe’s oldest cities, walked with a guide who actually lives there.

Braga — Four unhurried nights in Portugal’s oldest city. The baroque staircase at Bom Jesus do Monte, the country’s oldest cathedral, and wander cobblestone streets far from the tourist crowds, then linger over a traditional Minho lunch in a family-run restaurant, the kind of place most visitors never find.

Have an extra day? Add a second night in Lisbon — Fado in Alfama, or simply time to shake off jet lag.

Before You Book

Worth it vs. planning it myself? If you like planning, that’s half the fun. If you’d rather spend that time deciding what to pack, this tour hands you back the hours — and a guide on the ground if anything changes.

What if I can’t go? Ask about our cancellation terms before booking, so you know exactly where you stand.

What if I don’t click with the group? Everyone here chose the same kind of trip — slower-paced, culturally curious, no bus tour. And solo time is built into every day if you want it.

Extend the Trip

  • Madeira (4 days / 3 nights) — Lush landscapes, same unhurried pace.
  • Azores (4 days / 3 nights) — Most recommended by past travelers.
  • Evora & Cork Farm — the Roman Temple and Chapel of Bones, a Jeep tour through a traditional cork farm (Book an extra night in Lisbon).

Prefer Just Your Own Group?

Same itinerary, arranged privately for 4+ travelers — no additional cost. Dates adjust around your schedule.

Ready When You Are

Groups cap at 8. Spring and fall dates typically fill 6–12 months out. Ask about availability, get a straight answer, decide when you’re ready.

Memorable Trip

Maureen & I want to thank Cristiane for her professionalism, her vast knowledge and the personal touches she gave us on our tour. We had a wonderful time! Cristiane kept it relaxed and informative and picked great restaurants! Thank you again for a very memorable trip!

Excellent Tour

Excellent tour and guide/host. Nothing like a local to personally escort you through Lisbon, Porto, Braga, and more. Each more spectacular as you go. This was a personal tour at exceptional value for money prices (less than the larger tour companies). Accomodation was 4 star, situated each time in the centre of the older section of the city. This enabled you to soak up the atmosphere, easy walking to local sights while always feeling safe and secure. Chris is a wonderful host and tour guide. Gracious, informative, friendly and knowledgeable. A fantastic tour from the airport pick up to airport drop off and everything in between. We thoroughly recommend Chris and Eco Trilha for any trip to lovely Portugal.

We really enjoyed the trip

Just a quick note to say thanks for the tour of Portugal. We really enjoyed the trip; it was exciting and took in everything we hoped to see [the day in The Douro Valley was special] and I will be recommending it to our travel agent. Phil and Rhonda were great company too - we were very lucky. I must say the dinner we had at Inato was really good and probably one of the best we had during our travel. You live in an exciting place!

Amazing Tour

We took an amazing tour with EcoTrilha! Cristiane was a thoughtful guide who knows the good places to go (and where to avoid) and provided us with information about the rich history if Portugal, the amazing sites that we saw with her, as well as answered our many many questions on random things. She also provided information to help out planning and took great care of us. Highly recommend spending your time with Cristiane seeing and learning about Portugal!

Wonderful Vacation

My wife and I spent a week in Portugal with Cristiane and EcoTrilha Tours. It was a wonderful vacation. Everything was very well arranged. The hotels were clean, comfortable, and in nice locations. The sights that we saw, and the experiences that Cristiane arranged for us were all interesting, fun, and just a great way to see Portugal. I can give EcoTrilha tours my absolute highest recommendation, and strongly suggest that you contact them if you are planning a visit to Portugal.

Everything was perfect!

Our tour guides were well informed, personable, and delightful. We had a friendly group and excellent accommodations. I bought online Portugal Vacation Package. Everything was perfect! I loved the wine tour and tasting, but especially memorable was our day in the Douro Valley. All in all, a fabulous trip — go to Portugal!

Best of Portugal Tour

We booked our "Best of Portugal" 7-day holiday. As my husband and I were the only people booked on this tour date, we were lucky enough to have Cristianne from Eco Trilha as our "private" tour guide for most of the time. Andre was our other wonderful guide for a couple of days in Porto and the Douro Valley. Cris and Andre both spoke English well and were reliable, organized, and helpful. They were thoughtful and generous with their time, their local knowledge, and the imparting of historical facts. We visited Lisbon, Nazare, Fatima, Porto, the Douro Valley, and Braga. Each place was very different, with its own charm and places of interest. Among other great memories from this trip, we will never forget Sintra and the Pena Palace, the traditional fish drying on the beach of Nazare, the unexpected impact of Fatima, cruising the Douro river, and enjoying a Pastel de Belem! However, we never felt rushed. Our hotels and transport were clean and comfortable. We would be very happy to recommend Cris and her company Eco Trilha to anyone looking to travel through Portugal.

I highly recommend

Our tour guides were knowledgeable, personable, and truly delightful to spend time with. The group felt friendly and intimate, and the accommodations in both Braga and Lisbon were excellent. I booked everything online, and the entire process was seamless from start to finish. Chris was incredibly helpful, answering all our questions both before and during the trip, which made us feel well taken care of. The wine tour and tastings were fantastic, but the highlight for me was our day in the Douro Valley, absolutely unforgettable! I also appreciated having free time in Lisbon to explore the city at our own pace. Braga was a wonderful surprise: charming, peaceful, and full of delicious local food. All in all, it was a fabulous trip, I highly recommend Portugal!

Portugal Small Group Tours

We had an excellent tour with an outstanding guide. There’s truly nothing like having a local personally escort you through Lisbon, Porto, Braga, the Douro Valley, and beyond, each destination more spectacular than the last. This was a private-style experience at exceptional value for money, especially compared to larger tour companies. The accommodation was consistently 4-star and ideally located in the historic centers of each city. After visiting Porto, we really understood why Braga was chosen for our stay. It’s a quiet, well-preserved city with far fewer tourists, allowing you to truly soak up the atmosphere. Unlike Porto, Braga offered a more relaxed experience, with easy walking access to local sights while always feeling safe and secure. Chris is a wonderful host and guide, gracious, informative, friendly, and highly knowledgeable. From airport pickup to drop-off and everything in between, the entire experience was seamless. We highly recommend Chris and EcoTrilha for anyone planning a trip to beautiful Portugal.

Best of Portugal Tour

Overall, the organisation at Eco Trilha was very good and they were on time, every time. The guides were excellent (Pedro won our award) and being a small group, they were patient and flexible - my wife is an avid photographer and they were willing to point out features or wait a short time while she took pics.
