Legend has it that the cathedral houses the remains of Saint James, one of Jesus’s apostles. With a history spanning over a millennium, the Camino has served as a significant Christian pilgrimage since ancient times, attracting countless pilgrims from all walks of life.

As travelers embark on this extraordinary path, they follow in the footsteps of generations before them, immersing themselves in a spiritual and cultural expedition of profound depth. The Camino de Santiago invites individuals to connect with their inner selves, seeking solace, enlightenment, and a renewed sense of purpose along the way.

This revered pilgrimage embodies a rich history, faith, and personal growth, making it a truly unique and transformative experience.

How far do you walk on the Camino to get the certificate?

To obtain the coveted pilgrim’s certificate on the Camino de Santiago, there are certain distance requirements that must be met. As you embark on this remarkable journey, it is essential to understand the criteria for obtaining the pilgrim’s credential, often referred to as a passport.

To ensure eligibility for the certificate, pilgrims are required to obtain stamps or “sellos” on their credentials at various stages along the route. It is recommended to have a minimum of two stamps per day as proof of progress and authenticity.

In terms of distance covered, walkers must have traversed at least 100 kilometers (approximately 62 miles) on foot, while cyclists must have cycled a minimum of 200 kilometers (approximately 124 miles). These distance thresholds are considered significant milestones and are used to authenticate the completion of the pilgrimage.

By adhering to these requirements and collecting the necessary stamps along the designated distance, pilgrims can validate their dedication to the Camino de Santiago and earn the well-deserved pilgrim’s certificate, a cherished symbol of their journey and commitment to this ancient pilgrimage.
